Hello! And welcome to our very first blog post here on the MakerBrane website! I’m Carl, the Product Manager of our little team, and I’m excited to tell you all about what we’re working on.
We wanted our first post to be special, and thought this new feature fits the bill. Have you ever tried our rebuilding challenges and found that sometimes it’s a little hard to build the design in the photo? We’ve been hard at work trying to find a solution that allows you to easily recreate any design you like. Introducing a more fun way to play and rebuild!
Play Mode is essentially a step-by-step building guide. As soon as you purchase a design or Play Set, you’ll be able to rebuild it to gain XP and level up. In addition to a reference model that allows you to observe the design you’re supposed to build from all angles, you’ll also see a silhouette of the design in the middle of the MakerSpace, like so:
Notice the 2 highlighted parts are visible inside the silhouette. We refer to these internally as Ghosts! 1-5 of them appear at a time. Spooky! Your job is to drag Parts from the sidebar towards the Ghosts. If the Part and the Ghost match, the Part will re-align itself and re-color itself to snap in the Ghost’s place!
Once all the Ghost Parts have been replaced, new ones will appear. This will continue until you’re rebuilt the entire design. It’s kinda like flipping through an instruction manual!
Another cool thing about this building mode is that the Parts in the Parts Sidebar appear in different colors, and the same Part can appear multiple times in different colors. This is different from the regular building mode, where all Parts appear once, and in white. We hope this makes looking for parts a little more exciting!
Every design is automatically Ghosted as soon as it is purchased, and every successful rebuild grants XP. That’s a ton of potential XP available for you RIGHT NOW! It’s the best time to go and get those level ups and ranks. Just find a design you like on the Explore page, click on Buy Design on the top right, and then Rebuild! You can also find collections of designs at a discount on the Play Sets Page.
